The Southwell Family from Peterborough

This page lists those members of the Southwell family whose origins we are researching. Entries in italics are inferred or uncertain, or have been supplied by other researchers and not personally verified by us. The list does not include children known to have died in infancy. The Southwell family we are researching lived in and around Peterborough, which was then in Northamptonshire but is now in Cambridgeshire. So far we have traced this line back to John Southwell of Glapthorn and Elizabeth Bellamy of Weldon, who were married in 1729. There were many other Southwells living in the same area, but we have not yet been able to establish whether and how they are connected.

We do have more details about many of the people listed below which have not yet been put on line, and the Southwells are not yet included in the alphabetical list of names. We will, however, be happy to exchange information with anyone who has a close connection to this family.
