The Jeffreys (or Jeffries) Family

This page lists those members of the Jeffreys family in Wiltshire and Surrey whose origins we are researching. Entries in italics are inferred or uncertain, or have been supplied by other researchers and not personally verified by us. The list does not include children known to have died in infancy. During the 19th century our known ancestors from the Jeffreys family lived in Barnes, then in Surrey, but they were also connected to Fulham, just across the river. We know that earlier generations of Jeffreys lived in Langley Burrell, near Chippenham in Wiltshire, but we do not have many details about them. We use the spelling Jeffreys below, but the surname was spelt in several different ways in official and parish records. Jeffries was the most common variant, but we have also seen Jefferies, Jeffery, Jefferys and Jefferyes.
